Um yes, my kids are up often at 6am, but I have drawn a line in the sand...I will not get up before 6:30am because that's just wrong.  No, I didn't offer him the elk any cereal, because I have a hard enough time protecting it from the cats...

Queen Mother, they were even gone when I got here at 10.  I did notice they'd been here by what they left in the driveway, though.

Very cool picture.  That's quite a bunch to have roaming through your yard. Now, I have one question - YOUR KIDS ARE UP AT 6:30????   I've been an empty nester too long I guess

Cool! All *I* get is the occasional raccoon and the dog next door barking her fool head off. I like the kids' whispering, too.  Something about that the raises the excitement level.

It was definitely cool having them sleep right in front of the house last night.  I guess I need to let the grass grow long like this to entice them to spend more time in the yard.  Maybe we'll get the whole herd tonight.

Karen- you can get pretty close.  Sometimes they can get spooked, but I've been within an arm's length before.  As long as you are quiet and move slowly they'll give you a long look but may not actually run.  You want to stay clear of...
